“City Police arrest bank robber”
On July 27, 2018, at approximately 11:26 am, Plattsburgh City Police Dispatch received a commercial alarm notification from a third party notifier. The alarm was reported to be coming from Champlain National Bank in the City of Plattsburgh (32 Cornelia St).
Officers quickly responded to the bank and were notified by bank employees that there had been an attempted robbery just minutes prior. The bank employees explained the preliminary details of the attempted robbery and a description of the male, who had fled on foot on Cornelia St in a Westerly direction. The bank employees indicated that the male suspect had shown a teller a handwritten note demanding money. The suspect male was not given any money and he fled on foot before police arrived on scene.
Plattsburgh City Police Officers quickly coordinated the effort to identify surveillance video of the suspect, disseminate the description of the suspect and establish a perimeter near the incident location.
Within several minutes of the dissemination of the suspect description to Officers in the area, members of the Plattsburgh City Police were able to locate and apprehend the suspect, Neil M. Blouin (57) of Plattsburgh, New York.
After a thorough and extensive investigation, Neil M. Blouin was charged with one count of Attempted Robbery in the 3rd degree (E Felony). He is currently awaiting arraignment and is being held at the Plattsburgh City Police station.
