Plattsburgh Man Arrested for School Burglary/ Police Station Vandalism

It is alleged Clifford unlawfully entered Stafford Middle School early Thursday morning, stealing a garbage can and a chair from inside the building. An elevator was also found to have been tampered with and two district-owned vehicles were damaged.

It is further alleged that after leaving school property, Clifford damaged several signs in the Police Department parking lot nearby. Clifford’s actions were observed on surveillance camera and he was quickly apprehended. Upon his arrest, Clifford was found in possession of property taken from the school as well as property reported stolen from nearby residences.

Clifford was charged as follows:

Stafford Middle School Incident:
1 count of Burglary 3rd Degree (Class D Felony),
1 count of Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree (Class E Felony)
1 count of Petit Larceny (Class A Misdemeanor).

Police Department Incident:

Criminal Mischief 4th Degree (2 Counts) (Class A Misdemeanor)
Attempted Criminal Mischief 4th Degree (Class B Misdemeanor)
Petit Larceny (Class A Misdemeanor)
Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 5th Degree (Class A Misdemeanor)

The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are pending.
