Nickolas Mahler was arrested by the City of Plattsburgh Police Department Wednesday on charges related to an ongoing investigation into the transportation and sales of narcotic substances in the Plattsburgh area. The investigation was led by the City of Plattsburgh Police Department’s Narcotics Enforcement Unit and assisted by the New York State Police, Clinton County Sheriff’s Department, and the Drug Enforcement Administration.
City Police executed a search warrant on Mahler’s vehicle and his person upon his return to Clinton County. At this time, Mahler was found to be in possession of approximately 3 ounces of crack cocaine, heroin, and fentanyl.
During this investigation, the City of Plattsburgh Police Department developed leads connecting Mahler with an ongoing investigation into the theft of various amounts of Snap-On tools. The tools, valued at approximately $10,000, had been taken from a location in the City of Plattsburgh in November of last year. In furtherance of this investigation, a search warrant was executed ensuring the recovery of numerous Snap-On tools.
At the conclusion, Mahler, 31, was arrested and charged with Criminal Possession of Controlled Substance 3rd with Intent to Sell (Class B Felony), Criminal Possession of Controlled Substance 3rd ½ ounce or more (Class B Felony), and Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 3rd (Class D Felony). Mahler was arraigned in Plattsburgh City Court and remanded to Clinton County Jail.
