The fire department utilizes civil service tests and active lists to hire candidates from. All individuals seeking employment with the Fire Department must take, and pass, our civil service exam.
Upon passing the civil service exam, a candidate will be interviewed, and must pass a physical and background check before an offer of employment is extended.
Candidates must attend and pass a 16 week New York State residential fire academy. Upon completion of the fire academy probationary firefighters will complete New York State EMT training.
